About Journey With BYN

I'm a born and raised-Californian Hmong American woman with a huge family. I'm married to a gentle soul of a Japanese man, a native of Japan, and since our marriage in 2019 (and my move from the US to Japan), we've been blessed with a handsome and oh-so thoughtful son, now two years old.

 

We're back in the US due to my husband's work landing us in what's known as the city that never sleeps, "The Big Apple," New York.

I am a Christian and believe it makes up the heart and soul of who and what I am now. It is the foundation of how I perceive teaching my toddler how to love and care for others and the earth.

​

I have 10+ years of experience in the world of education, from classroom management to exceptional education support. I have also worked as an English Teacher in Japan, creating curricula and materials to share communication and cultural exploration. 

​

Through the lens of education, I learned to find my voice in communicating with adults and children.

​

I am currently navigating a career change after a three-year career break to be a mother. I have been delving into the world of entrepreneurship and learning skills to refine the experiences I have gained over the years.

​

My blogs are inspired by the perspective of a curious foodie, an educator, and a mother that relates to topics such as parenting, food, and traveling.

 

I share strategies of how I have taught my son language (English and Japanese), manners, love, and growth in emotional awareness (all men and women need to learn this skill, and I still need to practice daily).

​

I also blog about travel hacks while exploring NYC with a toddler in public transportation and how I stay sane from 5 to 15-hour flights when visiting family on the west coast and Japan.

​

I also enjoy sifting through amazingly delicious, quick, and easy recipes that I find online as my go-to recipes that I use with the busy life that comes with the joys of toddlerhood.

 

There are plenty of local and hidden gems that aren't part of the biggest and trendiest places with long lines that have yet to be explored (cafes and restaurants) that I want to discover and write about.
